The training was held at the Park Cawang Hotel, Jakarta on 19 February 2020 by UN Environment, KLHK and BCRC-SEA & SCRC Indonesia. This training is part of the “Development of Minamata Initial Assessment (MIA) And National Action Plan (NAP) For Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining in Indonesia” activities in collaboration between UN Environment, KLHK and BCRC-SEA & SCRC Indonesia which began in October 2017.
The purpose of organizing the training is to increase capacity and assist in conducting a baseline inventory for the survey team who will conduct field visits to selected Small Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) locations. The selected locations as agreed by participants of the National Steering Committee (NSC) Meeting on 10 April 2019 in Jakarta are 6 (six) regions that represent ASGM in Indonesia, namely Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra; Tasikmalaya, West Java; Murung Raya, Central Kalimantan; Bolaang Mongondow, North Sulawesi; Taliwang, West Nusa Tenggara and Obi Island, North Maluku. For Obi Island, because it turned out that ISMIA GOLD UNDP had also conducted an inventory, it was replaced with Cikotok, Banten.
