The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Japan’s Ministry of Environment (MOEJ), and Basel and the Stockholm Convention Regional Center for Southeast Asia (BSCRC-SEA) teamed up to introduce the “MINAS Program (MOYAI Initiative for Networking, Assessment and Strengthening)” mercury . Following up on the Bali Declaration to Combat Illegal Trade in Mercury launched by the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia at the 4th Conference of the Parties (COP 4) to the Minamata Convention and subsequently with an offer of technical assistance from the Ministry of Environment of Japan (MOEJ), has carried out activities ” Survey of Technical Needs for Implementation of the Bali Declaration in the Minamata Convention on Mercury”.
Following up on the activities mentioned above, BSCRC-SEA in collaboration with MOEJ plans to hold a “Focus Group Discussion on Challenges and Good Practices for Eradicating Illegal Mercury Trade” was held on 18 July 2023 in Artotel Suites Mangkuluhur, Jakarta, Indonesia.
