Consultative meeting on the latest Developments in the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants - Kuwait (SCRC-Kuwait), 10-11 October 2021

Consultative meeting on the latest Developments in the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants will be held online via the Zoom platform on 10-11 October 2021. This workshop is designed for 12 countries from West Asia (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Iraq, Syrian Republic, Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine) and carried out by SCRC-Kuwait in collaboration with BSCRC-SEA under the obligations of the Stockholm Convention. The program will highlight the latest developments in the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and share information regarding the implementation and updating of NIPs. This program will share information about newly registered POPs and the development of methodologies for newly registered POPs. In addition, the second day’s session covered the synergy of the Basel, Stockholm and Rotterdam conventions on chemical management and appropriate technical assistance for the implementation and updating of NIPs. It also reveals the various sources and fate of emerging contaminants. This workshop was attended by around 54 participants representing 8 countries, 3 regional centers of the Basel and Stockholm Conventions, the BRS Secretariat, Educational Institutions, and other international institutions.

This workshop is divided into 2 sessions in 2 days:
Session I: Action Plan and Implementation; NIP development/updating status including challenges faced by the parties
Session II : National Implementation Plan and Management of Chemicals
